Job Description

The Finance Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the Council's accounts payable are managed efficiently and accurately.

They will be responsible for processing transactions in a timely manner, providing support with payroll administration, and relieving in the Payroll position to complete weekly payrolls.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process accounts payable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
  • Provide support with payroll administration and processing
  • Assist with financial reporting and analysis
  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant experience in finance or accounting
  • Strong administrative skills preferably in a book-keeping or finance background including an ability to undertake reconciliations
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a pressured environment
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of customers demonstrating negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and an ability to follow established procedures desirable
  • Experience in the use of computerised accounts payable and/or payroll systems desirable
  • Enthusiasm and a passion for learning
