Job Title: Veterinary Officer - Animal Care Services

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Officer to join our Animal Care Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, wellbeing, and welfare of animals used in research and teaching at the University.

The role involves diagnosing and prescribing treatment for conditions of animals held within our facilities, as well as supervising restricted drug use. You will also contribute to the development of competency training for our staff and researchers, and advise our Senior Veterinary Officer on relevant aspects of animal health care and wellbeing.

In addition, you will conduct procedures requiring anaesthesia and recovery of animals used for research and teaching.

As a key member of our team, you will have a strong commitment to animal welfare and care in a research teaching environment. A tertiary qualification in veterinary science or equivalent is required, along with high quality interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise and interact with all stakeholders.

Benefits:

This is a part-time appointment (0.8 FTE) on an ongoing basis, with a base salary range of $112,114 - $122,544 p.a. (pro-rata). You will also receive 17% superannuation.
