About the Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a House Supervisor to join our Residential Care initiatives. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the House Supervisor will be responsible for managing the daily functions of the residential facilities. Your primary focus will be to foster a safe, culturally sensitive, and nurturing environment for children and adolescents.

NOTE: Applicants must reside in the designated region.

This role is hands-on, requiring significant time spent on-site, along with one day per week at the administrative office. This position is offered as a permanent, full-time role, with access to salary packaging options. The position may involve shift work, including early morning starts to assist children in preparing for school and occasional weekend shifts, for which penalty rates will apply.

You will guide a team of Residential Support Staff in delivering meaningful support to young individuals with complex needs. Your goal will be to enhance the lives of these young people in a 24/7 residential setting, employing a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach within the daily routines and structured programming. A strong emphasis will be placed on leading your team to provide a secure environment for our young residents, collaborating with culturally relevant services, and facilitating opportunities for them to connect with their cultural identities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish professional, trusting relationships with children and young people through active engagement and visible interest.
  • Ensure the residence is a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes growth and resilience.
  • Assist in the development and execution of the Departmental Case Plan (where applicable) and create the LWB Case/Care plan that guides daily service delivery.
  • Manage, support, and provide reflective supervision and team meetings for residential staff, fostering teamwork in the best interests of the children and young people.
  • Support staff in applying the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention system (TCI) to prevent, de-escalate, and respond to crisis situations involving children and young people.
  • Oversee the scheduling of residential staff, ensuring that risks are managed and staffing levels meet the needs of the young residents.
  • Coordinate the intake and transition of new children and young people into the residence and facilitate their exit to permanent homes or step-down services.
  • Collaborate effectively with external stakeholders.
  • Maintain the CIRTS database with up-to-date client information.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and young people who have faced trauma and adversity.
  • Proven experience in coordinating and managing 24-hour residential services for vulnerable populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Proven capacity to handle crises and critical issues while addressing complex and challenging situations.
  • Current Unrestricted Australian Driver's License.
  • First Aid and CPR Certifications (or willingness to obtain if selected).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
