Assistant Financial Controller Job Description

The Assistant Financial Controller plays a vital role in supporting the Financial Controller in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel. This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Finance and Purchasing department, ensuring compliance with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Utilize hotel systems to maintain the integrity of accounting processes and ensure policy compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Support managers in the use and interpretation of hotel systems, procedures, financial results, budget, and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Officer to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Provide support and assistance to accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and night audit teams.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualification in a related field, with previous experience in a similar role in a large hotel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical skills and high level of computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in SUN systems and Opera, as well as rostering, payroll, and purchasing systems (Ready Workforce and Purchase Plus preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
  • A team player with attention to detail and flexibility to work with monthly deadlines.
