Deakin University is seeking a motivated and innovative academic to join its School of Health and Social Development. As a Lecturer in Health Sciences, you will contribute to the development and delivery of undergraduate health sciences and/or health, nature and sustainability programs. Your expertise in teaching and research will be essential in shaping the next generation of health professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain deep discipline knowledge and assist in the integration of industry and research practice to inform unit/course design and teaching practices.
  • Participate in teaching teams to develop courses and materials and collaborate to produce innovation in curriculum design.
  • Provide clear assessment criteria, rubrics and timely feedback to learners, monitoring and adapting assessment practices to facilitate and improve learning outcomes.
  • Support diverse learners by designing accessible and inclusive unit material and practices to provide academic support to students within units.
  • Advance knowledge within own specific field/s and build teaching and learning capability related to discipline or pedagogy.
  • Initiate, design and conduct high-quality research and widely communicate research outputs to discipline(s), other sectors and the community, nationally and internationally.

Selection Criteria:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • An excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design.
  • An emerging reputation in research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding; with an ability to make a contribution to community engagement for research and teaching.
  • The capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
