Job Title: Technical Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Officer to provide technical support to the academic teaching within the School of Health and Social Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring practical and technical services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Provide technical expertise for the School of Health and Social Development's teaching programs in Occupational Therapy, Child Play Therapy, and Speech Pathology.
  • Materials and Equipment Coordination: Coordinate the materials and equipment requirements of staff and students for the running of practical classes within disciplines of expertise.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Understand local processes, prepare standard documents, manage records, and track progress of work tasks.
  • Chemical and Biological Management: Provide support and advice to staff and students regarding the ordering, management, safe use, and disposal of chemicals, biologicals, equipment, and consumables.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Contribute to the maintenance of teaching facilities by performing regular housekeeping tasks and monitor and maintain occupational health and safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Completion of a Degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or Completion of an Associate Diploma and at least two years subsequent relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience: Experience working in a laboratory setting, ideally within a tertiary education environment.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of OH&S principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards.
