Dance Educator

Job Summary:
The Dance Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality dance education to students in the Senior School, with the possibility of teaching in the Junior School and contributing to co-curricular Performing Arts projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in dance education, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach dance classes to students in the Senior School, with the possibility of teaching in the Junior School
- Develop and implement engaging and challenging dance lessons that cater to mixed abilities
- Contribute to co-curricular Performing Arts projects as a choreographer/dance director
- Participate in pastoral care activities and promote the objectives of the School's pastoral care program
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement the School's dance program
- Contribute to the School's commitment to student safety and wellbeing
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher with a suitable tertiary qualification in teaching and dance
- Experience teaching dance from Year 7 – VCE
- Experience teaching dance in the Junior years
- Experience working as a choreographer in Musical Theatre and/or Contemporary Dance styles
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with students and colleagues
- High-level communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
- Understanding of and commitment to the School's child safety expectations, principles, and policies
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
- Current Anaphylaxis Certificate
- Current National Police Check (obtained within the last 6 months)
