Kitchen Operations Leader

Contract Type: Permanent
Location: John Lewis Partnership
Salary: Competitive, within the range of £24,000 to £28,000 per annum
Partnership Level: 9
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, totaling 35 hours per week
Job Responsibilities:
We are looking for two culinary specialists to join our Catering team. This role is demanding and focuses on providing high-quality food to our Partners. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and be physically capable of handling the demands of the kitchen environment.
We value a healthy work-life balance, making this position ideal for those who prefer consistent hours without weekend shifts.
Key Duties Include:
- Operating in various kitchen settings, preparing both hot and cold dishes, including pastry items, while ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
- Maintaining and cleaning kitchen equipment, with a strong understanding of food safety standards.
- Implementing food safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant legislation.
- Overseeing daily kitchen operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Preparing, serving, and presenting food to a high standard.
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience as a Chef in canteens, hospitality, or similar environments.
- Good Basic Education.
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2).
- Recognized Food Production Certificate (City & Guilds 706 1 & 2 or equivalent).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Progress towards Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 3).
- Knowledge of pastry or bakery techniques.
