About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate workplace relations professional to join our management team at the Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors' Association of Victoria.

In this role, you will drive our workplace relations strategy, provide expert advice and support to members, and lead initiatives that promote cultural change in the building services industry.

Working closely with our Executive Team, you will help our members navigate complex workplace relations issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering positive employee engagement and workforce development.

Day-to-day activities include delivering workshops, presentations, and webinars, creating resources such as policies and templates, and supporting members with expert advice on complex issues.

You will also have the opportunity to represent our association on various committees and in industry forums, engage with government on workplace relations matters, and contribute to the development of new member services and commercial products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement workplace relations strategies to support members
  • Provide expert advice and support to members on complex workplace relations issues
  • Lead initiatives to promote cultural change in the building services industry
  • Represent our association on various committees and in industry forums
  • Engage with government on workplace relations matters
  • Contribute to the development of new member services and commercial products
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, employment law, or a related field
  • Five or more years of experience, preferably in a senior leadership or management role
  • Demonstrable and extensive knowledge of the Fair Work Act and Fair Work Commission
  • Experience with Enterprise Agreement negotiations is strongly desirable

  • You will be passionate about helping employers manage complex workplace relations issues while driving a more proactive agenda to help them drive employee engagement, development, productivity, and compliance.
  • You will have demonstrable technical expertise and knowledge of the workplace relations framework, including the application of Awards and Enterprise Agreements, managing dispute resolution processes, and establishing best-practice workplace relations policies and procedures.
  • You will have a customer service mindset underpinned by a strong commitment to the support and education of members on employment and related matters and will look to engage members through innovative initiatives.
  • You will be highly collaborative and foster strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including our management team, membership, government, regulators, training providers, and other industry stakeholders.
  • You will be a motivated and organised self-starter who can identify and prioritise individual activities while supporting and contributing to the success of team members and other collaborators.
  • You will be a strong advocate for members' interests with the ability to collect stakeholder feedback from various groups, mediate between competing viewpoints and interests, and prepare persuasive advocacy outputs such as submissions and policy positions.
Location

This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane and has working-from-home options. Occasional intrastate travel will be required.
