Job Title:

Health Care Interpreter

About the Role:

The Staff Health Care Interpreter provides professional health care interpreting services to facilitate communication between healthcare providers and patients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds or the Deaf community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret in a healthcare setting.
  • Identify and convey social and cultural factors affecting healthcare.
  • Deal with ethical dilemmas in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics.
Requirements:
  • NAATI Certification when the language is certified by NAATI; or Recognition if certification is not available.
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to identify and convey social and cultural factors affecting healthcare to ensure high quality performance.
  • Ability to identify ethical dilemmas and to deal with them in compliance with AUSIT Code of Ethics.
  • Current NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 acceptable) and willingness to travel.
