We are a leading music company, part of the Universal Music Group. Our mission is to identify and develop recording artists and songwriters. We own and operate a broad array of businesses engaged in recorded music, music publishing, merchandising, and audio-visual content globally.

The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening our domestic roster by signing new songwriting talent, creating opportunities for existing writers, pitching songs to artists, and assisting in developing songwriter careers locally and internationally. To excel in this role, you will have a strong understanding of the Australian and international music industry, including music publishing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop, and implement A&R strategy with the SVP A&R
  • Research and identify new songwriting talent through market analysis and networking
  • Maintain knowledge of music trends and industry developments
  • Prepare reports for senior management on market trends and opportunities
  • Work with SVP A&R and VP Commercial & Creative on deal proposals and contract renewals
  • Nurture relationships with songwriters, industry professionals, and other stakeholders
  • Arrange co-writing opportunities and facilitate collaborations between local and international writers
  • Pitch songs for advertising, film, and television projects
  • Oversee studio usage and maintain online platforms for promoting UMPG Australia

About You:

  • A minimum of 12 months experience in an A&R role or related field
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian and international music industry
  • Basic studio functions and social media skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to create innovative plans and strategies for our local roster
  • Understanding of deal profitability and label expectations
  • Proven ability to identify commercially viable songwriting talent
  • Existing contacts within the industry, particularly in artist management and music publishing
  • Experience in song pitching and live events
