The Victorian Government is seeking a highly skilled Strategic CVE Policy Expert to join their team.



About the role

As a key member of the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Unit, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team comprising of sworn police members, senior forensic psychologists, senior analysts, case managers, policy/project officers, and in-house program mentors.



The CVE Unit aims to reduce the risk of individuals from becoming or remaining violent extremists and to address the social impacts of violent extremism by undertaking various activities, including:




  • Building the resilience of communities to violent extremism;
  • Supporting the diversion of individuals at risk of becoming violent extremists;
  • Establishing a coordinated intervention structure to identify and support individuals deemed at risk of radicalisation to violent extremism;
  • Enhancing the capacity of Government and non-Government agencies to support and deliver CVE identification and intervention activities;
  • Developing and maintaining highly coordinated prevention, preparedness, and response arrangements in relation to threats and acts of terrorism in Victoria;
  • Developing programs to prevent terrorism and counter violent extremism in Victoria and leading the Victoria Police's agenda and participation in national and international counter terrorism forums.


Your key responsibilities

As a Strategic CVE Policy Expert, your duties will include:




  • Preparing policy and project briefs, reports, and plans;
  • Building and maintaining an awareness of the broader CVE policy and legislative frameworks to respond strategically to environmental changes;
  • Consulting, collaborating, and negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders;
  • Assisting in the development of policy, strategy and business case submissions with the objective to capture the full range of effective interventions.

To be successful in this role, you will require:




  • Strong policy and project management skills;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Knowledge of CVE policy and legislative frameworks in Victoria and at a national level.
