About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounts Payable Officer to join our team at Costco Wholesale, based at the Home Office.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you should have a strong vision to grow your career in Accounts Payable and contribute your valuable knowledge and experience in resolving complex AP issues.

Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensuring all payables are processed accurately, on time, in accordance with company policy and accounting standards, meeting on-time payment KPI.
  • Resolving discrepant invoices and claims daily.
  • Reviewing and processing credit notes, matching them to short payments, and ensuring timely accuracy.
  • Addressing EDI invoice queries daily and supporting new vendor onboarding processes.
  • Reconciling vendor statements to ensure aged items are addressed and followed through to resolution.
  • Assisting with AP month-end GL accounts reconciliation, addressing reconciliation items, and providing supporting comments.
  • Being flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of the AP functions.
  • Providing assistance in other areas of the business as required.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience, including exposure to vendor statement reconciliation.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Tertiary study in accounting preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts, and corporate procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both verbal and written communication.
  • A strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Well-organized time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple issues and schedule follow-ups with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to take responsibility for one's own performance, set goals, and report progress.
