Job Title

Overview

As a skilled backend developer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build a scalable, high-performance system while contributing directly to our infrastructure.

A key part of your role is maintaining and evolving the compiler stack that translates OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs for low-level controllers, bridging the gap between high-level quantum programming and physical execution on QPUs.

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend services in Python (with opportunities to work in Rust or C++).
  • Maintain and evolve the compiler that translates OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs into low-level controller instructions.
  • Work with researchers and quantum engineers, translating experimental needs into production-ready code and debugging real-world execution challenges.
  • Validate compiler output and controller behaviors through real device experiments.
  • Deliver high-efficiency service-to-service communication using modern protocols (gRPC, GraphQL, REST).
  • Enforce best practices for clean, secure, and reliable code with robust testing and documentation.
  • Help define software practices, tools, and design patterns for the next generation of quantum control systems.
  • Collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to ship integrated solutions used across products.
Requirements
  • Proficient in designing and developing scalable backend services in Python.
  • Experience in maintaining and evolving compilers that translate OpenQASM3 + OpenPulse programs.
  • Ability to work with researchers and quantum engineers to translate experimental needs into production-ready code.
  • Strong understanding of quantum computing principles and their application in real-world scenarios.
  • Knowledge of gRPC, GraphQL, and REST protocols for efficient service-to-service communication.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
