Role Summary:

This leadership role is responsible for managing emergency medicine operations, supervising junior staff and making critical decisions in a fast-paced environment.

The Key Responsibilities
  • Lead shifts, manage daily ED operations and liaise with consultants and other departments to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Direct patient care, assessing and treating patients with acute presentations, including trauma, medical, surgical, paediatric and mental health conditions.
  • On-call duties, participate in a structured roster covering after-hours and weekend shifts with senior consultant backup to ensure continuity of care.

Clinical leaders will promote best practices in triage, patient flow, quality improvement and departmental governance. Education & teaching opportunities include in-clinic teaching, case discussions and directed professional development sessions.

Candidates will work across a network of hospitals, including John Hunter Hospital, Belmont Hospital and Maitland Hospital, with site allocation based on service needs and experience.
