As a Technical Director - Digital Systems, you will be responsible for providing domain-specific technical subject matter expert inputs relating to deploying digital train control systems, such as ETCS, to suburban and freight train networks. This senior position requires experience in rail operations, maintenance, and safety, supporting rail infrastructure operating organisations transition to digital train control systems. You will work within a collaborative environment contributing your expertise and collaborate with colleagues to deliver business results.

The Role:

  • Lead the delivery of a flagship digital systems project, providing technical leadership to internal and external stakeholders across complex rail digital systems.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in digital train control systems (ETCS, ATO, CBTC, and/or TMS technologies) and contribute to knowledge sharing within the company.
  • Manage and coordinate activities across the project, including Business Readiness, Human Factors & Operational Performance Modelling workstreams, managing the output of subconsultants.
  • Prepare and execute project plans for portfolio projects/work packages, addressing client and project time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of addressing impacts on rail operators' operating and maintenance processes/systems when introducing digital systems.
  • Develop concepts of operations and maintenance, including operational scenarios and identify training needs through change impact assessment risk-based analysis.
  • Interface with global SYSTRA colleagues to share knowledge and expertise, including mentoring junior colleagues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • 15+ years' experience in rail operations, maintenance, and safety, including experience in transitioning rail infrastructure operating organisations to digital train control systems.
  • Primary capability in railway signalling and control systems, with desirable experience in systems engineering integration.
  • Able to demonstrate sound leadership skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, and present in a professional manner with credibility.

This role offers an estimated salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
