Job Title: Metro Cost Manager – Sydney

Microsoft is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metro Cost Manager to join our team in Sydney. As a key member of our Datacenter Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) team, you will be responsible for providing commercial management services for our Sydney metro projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide commercial management services for EPC projects in the Sydney metro region, including estimation, contract management, and cost control.
  • Work closely with our procurement office to develop and manage Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, and negotiate contracts with General Contractors (GCs).
  • Manage the commercial aspects of GC contracts, including payment applications, change orders, and final accounts.
  • Collaborate with our Cost Management firm to ensure accurate and timely cost reporting, and provide commercial support for funding requests.
  • Develop and implement commercial processes and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency in our commercial management practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Controls, Quantity Surveying, or related field, and 5+ years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing estimating or commercial aspects of major construction projects.
  • Proven experience in commercial management, including contract negotiation, cost control, and dispute resolution.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft's security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) full membership or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and build trust with construction partners to negotiate large contracts and final accounts.
