Transformative Leadership OpportunityThis pivotal leadership role is a strategic business unit leader position at a local government, where you will spearhead diverse and high-profile services. You will be responsible for driving performance uplift, delivering service improvements, leading through complexity, influencing and partnering, and embedding cultural change across four very different business units.Responsibilities include:
  1. Drive performance uplift – developing team capability, fostering culture, and promoting accountability.
  2. Deliver service improvements – modernizing systems and processes to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  3. Lead through complexity – balancing community expectations, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance across four distinct business units.
  4. Influence and partner – collaborating closely with contractors, volunteers, community groups, and government agencies.
  5. Embed cultural change – strengthening engagement and collaboration in line with the council's cultural framework.
You will bring:
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business or related field.
  2. Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment.
  3. Strong financial, compliance, and risk management experience.
  4. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and partner.
  5. A track record in leading cultural and performance improvement.
  6. NSW Driver's Licence, WWCC, and ability to obtain a National Police Check.
This opportunity offers:
  • Scale & variety – few roles offer leadership across such a diverse, high-impact portfolio.
  • Challenge & growth – take ownership of improvement and transformation, not just business-as-usual.
  • Flexibility – hybrid working options and a family-friendly organisation.
  • Development – leadership stretch, ongoing learning, and tertiary assistance.
  • Community impact – the services you lead touch thousands of residents, families, and businesses every day.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to drive cultural change.
