The Role: We are seeking a seasoned leader to drive our public policy and government relations strategy in Queensland. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs Queensland, you will lead the team responsible for executing integrated policy, political engagement, and campaign programs to support BHP's strategic, operational, and commercial interests in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute public policy and government relations strategy in Queensland aligned with Asset and organisational priorities">
  • Monitor and analyse political, policy, and regulatory developments to anticipate risk and opportunity, and translate insights into strategic advocacy and campaign planning">
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with political stakeholders, government officials, and policy influencers at state and national levels">
  • Represent BHP in high-level political and policy forums, advocating for outcomes that support long-term business success and social value creation">
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to Asset leadership on political, policy, and regulatory matters">
  • Lead and coach the Public Policy and Government Relations team in QLD fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development">

About You:

You are a politically astute and policy-minded leader with a proven track record in government relations, advocacy, and strategic engagement. You bring deep expertise in navigating complex political and regulatory environments, and understand how to influence outcomes through relationships, evidence, and timing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

">

Experience in public policy and government relations, ideally as a chief of staff or senior adviser to a government minister at the state or national level, or in a director or senior leadership role in public policy or corporate affairs.
