Mental Health Nursing Specialist

The Mater Misericordiae Ltd is seeking a skilled Mental Health Nursing Specialist to join our Consultation Liaison Team at Mater Hospital. This role involves providing support for patients with mental health needs across various wards and units, collaborating with medical, surgical, and psychiatric teams, as well as patients and their families.
This position is crucial in improving patient outcomes and enhancing holistic care provided to individuals with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for patients admitted to medical or surgical units with psychiatric comorbidities or psychological distress.
- Work collaboratively with medical teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring mental health support during their hospital stay.
- Provide nursing interventions that align with the patient's mental health and medical care needs, including emotional support, medication management, and crisis intervention.
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in mental health nursing or consultation liaison psychiatry.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
- Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly in managing complex or high-risk mental health presentations.
Mater offers a competitive salary package, including a base salary range of $54.21 - $58.09 per hour, plus 11.5% superannuation. Additionally, you will have access to salary packaging arrangements, allowing you to allocate some living expenses directly from your pre-taxable income and increase your take-home pay.
