Mental Health Nursing Specialist

At Mater Misericordiae Ltd, we are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse to join our Consultation Liaison Team at Mater Hospital. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work across various wards and units, providing essential support for patients with mental health needs.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive mental health assessments for patients admitted to medical or surgical units with psychiatric comorbidities or psychological distress. They will work collaboratively with medical teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients requiring mental health support during their hospital stay.
This role is crucial in improving patient outcomes and enhancing the holistic care provided to individuals with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. The Clinical Nurse will provide nursing interventions that align with the patient's mental health and medical care needs, including emotional support, medication management, and crisis intervention.
About You- You must have current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in mental health nursing or consultation liaison psychiatry is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals is essential.
- Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly in managing complex or high-risk mental health presentations, are necessary.
