Education Support Class Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Education Support Class Assistant to join our team at Yarra Ranges Special Developmental School. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal needs of our students with moderate to profound intellectual disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines and supporting communication between teachers and parents.
- Communicate with teachers on routine matters related to students and responsibilities, and provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students.
- Communicate with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information, and address immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting.
- Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students, and support teachers in coordinating educational programs, including rostering and organizing the work of a team of aides.
- Provide medical intervention support to students under specific conditions with appropriate training, and provide specialized communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position. You will be committed to professional learning and growth for both self and others, and have a strong commitment to supporting students with behaviours of concern using the School Wide Positive Behaviour Framework.
