About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Education Support Class member to join our team at Prahran High School. As an Education Support Class member, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational services provided to students, working closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines and supporting communication between teachers and parents.
  • Communicate with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.
  • Provide basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
  • Communicate with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
  • Address immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting, aligned to school policy and procedure.
  • Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.
  • Support teachers in the coordination of educational programs, independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides.
  • Provide medical intervention support to students, under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.
  • Provide specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong commitment to supporting the educational services provided to students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and other support staff.
  • Ability to provide routine support for teachers, including assisting with planning of student routines and supporting communication between teachers and parents.
