Job Summary:

The General Hand role is a key position within our Port Macquarie facility, responsible for assisting in the daily operations and maintenance of the site. This includes conducting general housekeeping duties, ensuring the workshop is clean and organized, and performing various tasks to support the facility's overall efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies and procedures, reporting incidents as required
  • Prepare manufactured components and equipment for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and minor body work repairs
  • Assist in loading and unloading equipment and plant onto courier vehicles and trucks
  • Support the pre-delivery of machines with touch-up paint and minor body repairs as needed
  • Follow instructions while working with minimal supervision
  • Conduct general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized paint shop
  • Maintain the overall facility and premises to a high standard, including painting, small building repairs, facility maintenance, gardening, and minor repairs using hand and power tools

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Ability to use general handyman tools proficiently and safely
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills, including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, and understand basic numeracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow instructions and take initiative while working with minimal supervision
  • Ability to fabricate and weld
  • Strong attention to detail and a desire to perform tasks to a high standard
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing requirements while meeting deadlines
