Job Title: Quitline Counsellor - Support Specialist

 

Clinical Position Summary

 

The Cancer Institute NSW is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Quitline Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of the cancer control service, you will be responsible for providing high-quality support and guidance to individuals seeking to quit smoking and/or vaping.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

- Deliver evidence-based clinical services including assessment, treatment planning, and counselling to clients who call or are referred to NSW Quitline.

 

- Provide information and support to carers and family members of people who smoke and/or vape.

 

- Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to promote cessation care and provide education on smoking and vaping cessation methods.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

- A minimum three-year bachelor's degree qualification in counselling, social work, or psychology, with at least 3 years' experience in clinical settings.

 

- High-level verbal and written communication skills, including clinical documentation and client communication.

 

- Ability to remain calm and execute clinical service delivery with confidence and patience in a high-pressure environment.

 

- Willingness to work varied shifts, including weekends and outside business hours, with flexibility to assist with backfilling shifts when required.
