About the Opportunity

In the Australian Rail Track Corporation, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our team on a 4+ year contract. This role will be primarily responsible for leading the delivery of the internal sustainability plan, including the annual development and delivery of the annual environment and sustainability report.

The successful candidate will provide sustainability support to projects regarding the Infrastructure Sustainability Council and support the IS submission and verification process. With the current stage of the program and the breadth of the requirements to deliver on our Inland Rail Sustainability Objectives, additional support is required to ensure the successful implementation of our sustainability initiatives.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Leading sustainability advisor for up to 4 projects
  • Actively managing relationships with service providers or contractors to ensure sustainability outputs are fit for purpose and contribute to the achievement of project sustainability objectives
  • Leading reviewer for the IS sustainability rating submission to the IS Council, including reviewing, commenting, and finalizing all project documentation to be submitted to the IS Council, ensuring compliance as required
  • Delivering project reporting requirements and contributing to program reporting requirements
  • Supporting other sustainability advisers to manage and prioritize workloads
  • Developing, leading, delivering, and supporting program-wide sustainability initiatives and requirements

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field (strategy/policy, engineering, environmental sciences) with appropriate Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (v1.2 and v2.1) certification
  • A strong ability to multitask and work on simultaneous delivery requirements across various projects
  • Experience in infrastructure projects
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with different requirements
  • Ability to produce high-quality documentation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences
  • A passion and energy for sustainability and the change it can create
  • Understanding and experience using the Infrastructure Sustainability Rating Scheme (as managed by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia)
  • Experience in reviewing and developing submissions to the IS Council
