Job Overview

The role of the Principal Epidemiologist involves working within a newly established framework for public health system reform.

The vision for Victoria's public health system reform responds to learnings from COVID-19, focusing on trust and confidence, social determinants of health, intergenerational wellbeing, and value-based healthcare principles.

As a key member of this team, you will:

  • Translate health data into actionable insights, creating a centralized intelligence function across public health surveillance.
  • Provide analysis, interpretation, and evidence to inform decision-making for public health divisions and local units.
  • Guide program areas in identifying the best use of data to inform delivery of value-based care.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced epidemiologist with significant expertise in public health and/or health system surveillance. You will be a flexible and accountable leader, able to build relationships, co-design strategic public health intelligence, and negotiate tactfully with senior stakeholders.

Key Requirements include expertise in health data analysis, experience in public health surveillance, and strong leadership skills.
