About the Role:
This APS4 Actuary Analyst position operates within defined parameters, leveraging established policies, practices, and procedures to support the agency's objectives. The primary responsibilities include data extraction, cleansing, and preparation, utilizing key tools and software such as Microsoft Office, SAS, and statistical modeling techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Management: Extract, cleanse, and prepare data from multiple sources, including the data warehouse, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Analytical Tools: Utilize Microsoft Office, SAS, and statistical modeling techniques for actuarial analyses, cost-benefit assessments, and reporting, driving informed decision-making.
- Project Collaboration: Perform ad hoc modeling, report generation, and regular updates on performance monitoring, fostering effective teamwork and communication.
- Effective Communication: Report work progress and outcomes, delivering clear and precise analysis in written and verbal formats, ensuring seamless information exchange.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience: 0-2 years in actuarial, data analytics, or data science fields, demonstrating growth potential and adaptability.
- Education: Relevant academic background in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or equivalent, showcasing a strong foundation in technical skills.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work independently or as part of a team on urgent and long-term projects, demonstrating flexibility and a positive attitude.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and knowledge of statistical methods, driving accurate and reliable results.
- Communication: Clear and effective written and verbal communication, ensuring seamless information exchange and collaboration.
Desirable Skills:
- Progress toward Associate/Fellowship qualifications within the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or international equivalent), enhancing technical expertise and career prospects.
- Understanding of NDIS and issues impacting people with disabilities in Australia, demonstrating empathy and a commitment to social responsibility.
- Familiarity with programming languages like SAS, Python, R, or SQL, expanding technical capabilities and versatility.
