Job Description:

You are required to prioritize your safety and the safety of others in a work environment that is physically and mentally demanding.

This role involves working on projects that have a significant impact on the people of NSW, requiring a high level of quality and teamwork to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate grading equipment to spread gravel and perform final trimming on road rehabilitation and heavy patching sites with limited supervision.
  • Carry out manual and skilled labour tasks using powered and non-powered hand tools and small plant equipment, either independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to team members, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely, including operating graders to meet required standards and tolerances.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and maintenance on plant equipment, maintaining accurate usage and maintenance records.
  • Address operational issues using standard procedures and escalate complex problems to supervisors or managers to minimize risk and support work objectives.
  • Apply knowledge of WHS legislation, policies, and procedures to identify, assess, and manage risks, maintain accurate records, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Follow environmental protocols by identifying and addressing minor hazards, selecting low-impact work methods, and applying appropriate controls to reduce environmental impact.

Working Hours:

9-day fortnight roster.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in road construction and maintenance, with a strong focus on levelling and trimming processes.
  • Well-developed literacy and numeracy skills to complete accurate work records and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Proven ability to trim and finish road pavements to precise, tight tolerances.
  • Current Australian motor vehicle driver licence (Class C); minimum requirement: Provisional P1 licence.
  • Willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.
