Volunteer Training Specialist

This is a multifaceted role in the Queensland Government's training and development unit.

The key responsibilities include designing, developing, evaluating, and reviewing volunteer training content to ensure currency and alignment with national competency frameworks.

You will work closely with stakeholders across areas, districts, and regions to understand contemporary needs and deliver activities efficiently.

In addition, you will provide advice and guidance on curriculum matters, conduct research, and assist volunteer trainers in delivering training courses and programs that are fit-for-purpose and compliant with industry standards.

The position requires strong leadership competencies, including stimulating ideas and innovation, making insightful decisions, building relationships, driving accountability and outcomes, fostering inclusive workplaces, and demonstrating sound governance.

To be successful in this role, you will need to hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent, or obtain it within an agreed timeframe. Knowledge of volunteers or experience working with them is also highly regarded.

This position involves supporting operational duties during emergencies, which may include work outside normal hours, night shifts, weekends, and deployments across the state.

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to design and review volunteer training curricula, ensuring they meet the needs of contemporary volunteer services.

Your Key Accountabilities
  • Designing, developing, evaluating, and reviewing volunteer training content
  • Supporting volunteer training development projects
  • Applying adult education principles and ensuring compliance with RTO requirements
  • Creating interactive training products using contemporary e-Learning tools
  • Researching organisational policies and industry standards
  • Reviewing correspondence, submissions, and reports related to curriculum matters
  • Engaging with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver activities efficiently
Key Requirements
  • Hold a current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
