Mortgage Collections and Secured Hardship Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Collections and Secured Hardship Specialist to join our team.

This role is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of delinquent and pre-delinquent mortgage customers, from forecasting and inventory management to analyzing trends and identifying process improvements. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to manage delinquency and prevent further deterioration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and analyze trends and areas for improvement
  • Make recommendations based on collections and recovery knowledge to optimize business outcomes
  • Conduct skip tracing and field calls to communicate with customers and resolve issues
  • Manage high-risk and complex matters, including compromised securities and defended litigations
  • Support operational management functions, including managing third-party vendors

Requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience in Mortgage Collections (pre-delinquency through to mortgage in possession/asset realisation)
  • Proven track record of delivering results in a high-pressure environment
  • Sound working knowledge of Debt Collection Guidelines, Banking Code of Practice, National Consumer Credit Protection Act, and Privacy Act
  • Well-developed commercial acumen, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, mature positive attitude, and strong work ethic
  • IT literate (Word and Excel)
  • Experience as a Senior Collections/Hardship Officer or Team Leader with exposure to management of Third-Party Vendors
  • Working knowledge of individual State-based legislative requirements
