Job Overview

The hotel's Maintenance and Engineering Team relies heavily on the Chief Engineer to ensure efficient operations.

This role oversees daily engineering team activities, providing professional advisory support to the Director of Engineering to meet strategic goals.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan preventative maintenance throughout the Hotel to maintain high standards for a positive guest experience.
  • Manage and control the Maintenance Request System, analyzing timeliness and suggesting improvements based on data.
  • Delegate general repairs and maintenance tasks to the property's Engineering team or contractors as required.
  • Champion resource management improvements and conservation.
  • Test fire alarms, emergency lighting, etc. on a routine basis according to local Council and Fire Service requirements.
  • Liaise with Directors regarding contractor use within the Hotel, controlling expenditure and ensuring work meets company and manufacturer specifications.
  • Ensure cost-effective and hygienic waste removal from Hotel areas and monitor cleanliness standards.
  • Work closely with front desk and housekeeping to expedite room turnarounds and inventory returns.
Requirements
  • Qualified Engineer (preferred)
  • Proven experience as Chief Engineer/Facilities Manager or similar role
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems (Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical)
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards related to facilities management
  • Body/Owners Corporation Experience
  • Strong project Management experience
