Platform Engineering Leader

Role Summary:
  • Lead a high-performing team, fostering enablement, automation, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, develop, and manage compute platforms for products and services.
  • Drive self-service infrastructure capabilities, enabling teams to provision resources independently.
  • Implement guardrails, governance, and automation for platform reliability, security, and compliance.
  • Ensure comprehensive observability, aligned with availability and resiliency standards.
  • Collaborate with application teams, architects, product owners, and stakeholders to co-design solutions and integrate platform services.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and licensing for supported, secure, and cost-effective platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with security posture, including patching, vulnerability management, audit readiness, and governance reporting.
  • Assess emerging technologies to improve platform performance, scalability, and developer experience.
About the Role:
  • Extensive experience leading platform engineering teams in complex enterprise environments, driving automation, and delivering continuous improvement.
  • Expert knowledge of virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) with experience designing, implementing, and supporting server infrastructure.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux, with experience in administration, optimisation, troubleshooting, automation, and security best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell, applying infrastructure-as-code.
  • Experience designing and operating self-service infrastructure platforms that enable teams to provision and manage compute resources independently.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), including core services, networking, identity, and security models.
  • Ability to mentor engineers, support adoption of platform services, and improve usability based on feedback and usage patterns.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and collaborate effectively.
