About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at Life Without Barriers. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people who have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to promote the well-being and independence of young people
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to young people, fostering a sense of security and trust
  • Assist young people in developing life skills, such as cooking, housework, and laundry
  • Manage behavioral escalations and support young people in regulating their emotions
  • Communicate effectively with the care team and report incidents promptly and accurately
  • Administer medication (when required) and maintain accurate records

Requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or a relevant qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma and neglect, including the management of behaviors of concern
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with young people and stakeholders
  • Confidentiality and strong understanding of professional boundaries
  • Experience working with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate and a current Driver's License
