**Job Overview:**We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disaster Risk Management Specialist to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about building strong relationships with key stakeholders and contributing to the development of policies that mitigate the known and potential effects of disasters.
Key Responsibilities:- Undertake research and engagement to develop policies, plans, guidelines, and tools in alignment with emerging national and international policy, resilience trends, and best practice.- Coordinate the development, implementation, integration, and evaluation of evidence-based disaster risk management and risk reduction programs, leveraging local community relevant disaster risk management data.- Develop and implement risk-based planning, policy, and procedures to improve the identification and assessment of capability and capacity to manage disaster/potential disasters.- Build partnerships with Councils and state agencies across Queensland and contribute to the identification and assessment of broad area risk for use within and across local government, disaster district, and state disaster risk assessments.- Represent the organization at stakeholder meetings and events with relevant industry and community organizations, negotiate agreed outcomes, and identify where learnings can be incorporated into communication and education strategies, projects, and policies.- Manage hazard and risk projects, including monitoring and evaluating outcomes against performance targets.
