The team at SMAART Recruitment are proud to be partnering with this dynamic organisation as they seek an experienced Debt Collections Specialist to join their North Sydney office (2060).

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and results-driven professional to play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organisation and ensuring a positive client experience.

About the Role:

  • To be responsible for collections across Australia and New Zealand, communicating with existing accounts to manage and recover outstanding loan payments.
  • To discuss client situations and work with them to negotiate payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact clients via phone and email to discuss overdue payments and arrange payment plans.
  • Review and analyse client accounts to determine the best course of action for debt recovery.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communication and transactions with clients.
  • Ensure timely and accurate resolution of outstanding accounts and negotiate settlements with clients to resolve outstanding balances.
  • Provide high-level customer service while assisting clients in resolving their payment issues.
  • Identify vulnerable customers and those experiencing hardship, implementing appropriate arrangements with empathy.

About You:

  • A proven track record in debt collections, preferably within a finance company or non-bank lender.
  • Strong understanding of loan processes and financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with collections software and skip tracing techniques.
