Logistics Supervisor Job Description

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of our concrete truck fleet. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, supporting business strategy and goals, and ensuring compliance with legislative and customer driven requirements.

  • The Logistics Supervisor is accountable for implementing and maintaining a culture of safety and risk management within the team.
  • They are required to collaborate with other departments to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintaining compliance with legislation and customer driven requirements by staying up-to-date with industry changes and developments is a crucial aspect of this role.
  • The Logistics Supervisor oversees truck maintenance to ensure vehicles are in good working order and meet regulatory standards.
  • Regular inspections of trucks are conducted to maintain high levels of fleet presentation and adherence to company standards.
  • The successful candidate must deliver exceptional customer service both internally and externally by building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Managing operating costs to optimize efficiency and minimize waste is a critical responsibility.
  • The Logistics Supervisor manages driver recruitment, onboarding and training to ensure employees have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Assisting with the rollout of logistics related projects and training to improve processes and outcomes is also an essential duty.

Requirements:

  • Solid leadership capability with previous logistics supervision experience is essential.
  • Proven experience managing driver teams, including contractors and company-owned fleet is a must.
  • A strong knowledge of the transport industry, including National Heavy Law and Chain of Responsibility is required.
  • The successful candidate must be able to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written are necessary.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Gearbox, SAP and Microsoft Suite are required.
  • Heavy Vehicle qualification is desirable but not essential.
