Senior Commissioning Engineer Role Summary

">

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead and oversee the planning, coordination, execution, and documentation of testing and commissioning activities for electrical and control systems on a major rail/metro infrastructure project.

  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the delivery of a high-profile project.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of low voltage power systems, SCADA, PLCs, and integrated control systems, as well as experience in planning, executing, and documenting system integration tests.
  • As a Senior Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for leading on-site commissioning activities, ensuring functional, integration, and system performance testing is executed in line with approved procedures, and monitoring progress to resolve technical or scheduling issues.
  • Additionally, you will ensure all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with safety legislation and environmental requirements, verify systems meet standards compliance before handover, and participate in risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety in design reviews.

Key Requirements

">
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in testing and commissioning of electrical and control systems in rail, metro, or heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of Australian standards and AS/NZS standards.
  • Proven experience in planning, executing, and documenting system integration tests.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility.
  • Previous experience on similar Australian rail metro projects.
  • Experience with systems assurance, RAMS, and safety certification processes.
  • Understanding of configuration management and commissioning software tools.
