Alumina Refinery Process Operator Trainee

About Your Role
Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) is seeking a Process Operator Trainee to join our team at our alumina refinery in central Queensland. As a Trainee, you will play a crucial role in the safe operation and maintenance of our plant and equipment, working closely with our experienced team to ensure a stable and sustainable operation.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with site health, environmental, and community policies, systems, and procedures.
- Display a basic level of skills and understanding in performing or supporting production operations.
- Demonstrate a basic knowledge of section process and equipment to assist with problem-solving and diagnosis of equipment faults.
- Develop competency in the use of basic hand tools necessary for the work involved, including pneumatic and compressed air tools, water and liquor hoses, basic valve and pump operation, gasket fitting for screen boxes, and blind/spacer swaps.
- Perform routine equipment changes and isolations.
- Assist team members in emergency breakdowns.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of work processes, procedures, and practices.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills.
- Complete regular housekeeping functions.
About You
To be considered for this role, you should have a demonstrated commitment to your safety and the safety of your team, motivation to achieve individual and team goals, the ability to perform physical work on a 12-hour continuous shift roster in a hot industrial environment, strong time management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with peers and various contracting groups.
