Based in Darwin, with relocation assistance available, you will have the chance to work on a fixed-term full-time contract until June 2027. As a vital member of our team, you will play a key role in delivering our Dementia Support Australia Program, collaborating with others to improve lives and implement best practices.
We are seeking an experienced professional who can equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources including behaviour support planning. You will synthesize information through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations that are relationship-centred and informed by evidence-based best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand how dementia impacts each individual.
- Equip carers and clinicians to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources including behaviour support planning.
- Synthesize information through observation and written documentation to provide recommendations that are relationship-centred and informed by evidence-based best practice.
- Develop reports contextualised to individual situations that effect change on the ground and improve quality of life for people living with dementia.
- Undertake a range of assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network.
- Work in partnership with the broader Dementia Support Australia to build capability across the home and aged care sectors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience supporting people living with dementia – an understanding of dementia and a person-centred approach to care, with a genuine commitment to supporting individuals and their families.
- Experience supporting older people, ideally within Australian residential and/or community aged care settings, including an understanding of the needs of older people in regional and remote areas such as Darwin and the Top End.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
- High level of empathy and patience.
- Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health is essential.
