Job Title: Cost Control Specialist

In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing project costs, analyzing construction progress, and overseeing other essential project control activities. Your technical expertise will be applied to the Early Works packages, focusing on design, supply, and installation at our site.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and comprehend all relevant project documents related to cost control of allocated packages.
  • Determine and establish project control budgets based on approved project cost estimates.
  • Evaluate and certify contractor progress claims for payment.
  • Examine cost commitment and expenditure information for input into cost control and reporting systems.
  • Support works contractors in creating routine reports according to Project requirements.
  • Monitor contractor reporting deliverables to ensure they meet required formats and standards.
  • Generate cost status reports and inform management of forecasted cost overruns; Maintain accessible cost control registers and dashboards.
  • Oversee cost and commitment of assigned purchase orders and contract packages.
  • Perform routine cost estimating, analysis, and control tasks as directed.
  • Assist with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction disciplines or groups of disciplines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Project/Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent), accompanied by 8-10 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing cost engineering functions, including engineering and construction progress reporting, cost control, and cost analysis in both field and office environments.
  • Proven project experience as a Cost Engineer.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present project controls information to management and clients.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes, typically acquired through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Familiarity with engineering and construction management principles, customarily acquired over time through education or practical experience.
  • Beneficial experience in minerals processing plant and materials handling.

Working rights in Australia without employer sponsorship are required.

This position may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. In-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor in consultation with leadership.
