Senior Cyber Analyst

The Australian Energy Market Operator is seeking a Senior Cyber Analyst to join its Digital team in the Cyber Security Department.

The successful candidate will support the development and execution of a program of work to enable effective discharge of responsibilities in coordinating with government authorities and energy market participants on response to cyber security incidents, enhancing frameworks used to inform cyber security maturity uplift across grids and markets, coordinating cyber security research activities on emerging issues affecting energy grids and markets, and promoting a shared understanding of the cyber threat environment.

  • Delivery and ownership of complex outcomes in support of the Energy Markets Cyber Coordination team's responsibilities relating to cyber maturity uplift.
  • Maintenance of contacts and engagement with stakeholders across government, industry, and academia.
  • Identification and review of AEMO cyber security standards applying to market participants.
  • Support for review and refinement of sector-specific cyber maturity frameworks and reporting on security preparedness of the sector.
  • Assistance in the development of supporting materials and presentations.
  • Coordination of internal and contracted resources to deliver objectives.
  • Support for Manager, Energy Market Cyber Coordination in reporting on progress against initiatives and other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in the energy sector supporting critical infrastructure, resilience, and cyber security initiatives, effective analysis and communication skills, knowledge of security control and maturity frameworks relevant to the energy sector, knowledge of jurisdictional structures and arrangements across State, Territory, and Commonwealth governments with respect to energy and cyber security, contemporary knowledge of cyber adversary techniques and tradecraft, procurement, program, and project management skills, financial/budget management, scheduling, and resource management skills, ability to travel interstate and work flexible hours, and be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance.
