CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church across Tasmania. We have 60 years' experience delivering a wide range of services and support to improve individual, family and community wellbeing.

The role of Head of Safety and Governance is pivotal in shaping and leading our organisation-wide approach to safety, risk, and governance—ensuring the wellbeing of our people and the integrity of our operations.

As the Head of Safety and Governance, you will provide strategic oversight and operational leadership across Work Health and Safety (WHS), organisational risk, governance, and business continuity. You will champion a proactive risk culture, ensure compliance with legislative and accreditation standards, and support the CEO and Board with expert insights and reporting.

  • Provide expert advice and reporting to the CEO, Board, and Sub-Committees.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and drive continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Oversee governance, policy development, and accreditation processes.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Safety and Risk team.

What You Will Bring:

  • Proven experience in a senior safety, risk, or governance role.
  • Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management frameworks, and compliance standards.
  • Strong leadership and ability to target language to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for building a culture of safety and accountability.

What We Offer:

  • Salary packaging benefits to increase your take-home pay.
  • Four bonus leave days per year.
  • Discounted private health insurance.
