Job Summary
The Department of Children, Youth Justice and Multicultural Affairs QLD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Advisor to lead the development, coordination and implementation of safety and injury management strategies that result in positive business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Develop Safety Strategies: Develop, coordinate and implement safety and injury management strategies that align with the department's business objectives and ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Team Leadership and Coaching: Lead, coach and mentor a team of Senior Advisors to ensure effective delivery of work health and safety functions and initiatives.
- Provide Expert Advice: Provide authoritative advice and services to senior leaders and staff on a broad range of contemporary safety and injury management issues.
- Training and Education: Develop training, education and awareness strategies to build and sustain management and staff awareness and capability to undertake their day-to-day activities in a safe and healthy environment.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and implement strategies to record, monitor and review safety and injury management performance and prepare detailed reports for management and relevant governance arrangements.
- Evaluation and Improvement: Contribute to the evaluation of regional safety operations services, systems and initiatives to ensure services provided are value-adding and achieving the business goals of the department.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with other government departments, statutory authorities, professional organisations, unions, external service providers, etc. in the management of issues affecting safety and injury management.
- Client Relationships: Build professional client relationships to create working partnerships that facilitate quality human resources and safety management practices.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare submissions, reports, executive briefs and other correspondence on significant safety and injury management issues.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a strong background in safety and injury management, excellent leadership and coaching skills, and the ability to provide expert advice and guidance to senior leaders and staff.
