About the Role

The Queensland Government is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as an Assistant Curator, Indigenous Australian Art.

This role is part of the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art's (QAGOMA) dynamic and creative team, responsible for developing, researching, documenting, displaying, and interpreting the Gallery's collection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of research and documentation projects related to the Indigenous Australian Art collection.
  • Work with artists and stakeholders to create engaging exhibitions and programs.
  • Assist with the administration of upcoming exhibitions, including research, cataloguing, and preparation of works of art.
  • Recommend works for acquisition and contribute to the care, promotion, and management of the Indigenous Australian Art Collection.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in art history, visual arts, or museum studies.
  • A broad working knowledge of Indigenous Australian Art.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $115,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The Queensland Government offers a range of benefits, including generous leave entitlements, flexible working arrangements, and professional development opportunities.
