The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of food regulation, labelling, consumer law, and commercial contracting in the Australian context. They should be an experienced lawyer with 5+ years of post-admission experience and preferably with in-house experience in food & beverage or broader FMCG sectors.

This is a senior role requiring a high level of expertise in legal support for commercial operations. The successful candidate must be able to partner with cross-functional teams, influence operational decision-making, and manage risk pragmatically while balancing commercial outcomes with compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Partnering & Operational Legal Support: Act as the embedded legal partner to commercial, operations, and supply chain teams, providing timely and actionable advice on a wide range of business initiatives.
  • Food & Beverage Regulatory Compliance: Ensure ongoing compliance with food safety and labelling regulations, including packaging claims, ingredient disclosures, shelf-life, and allergen information.
  • Contract Management & Commercial Execution: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supply agreements, co-manufacturing contracts, third-party logistics (3 PL), sales terms with major retailers, promotional agreements, and marketing partnerships.
  • Brand, Marketing & Claims Management: Review and advise on marketing content (packaging, digital, social media, in-store) to ensure compliance with advertising standards and consumer law.
  • People & Culture Legal Support: Partner with the People & Culture team to provide high-level support on workplace relations, employment contracts, policies, investigations, terminations, and restructures.
