Job Opportunity: Litigation Counsel

The Department of Education seeks a skilled litigation counsel to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a junior lawyer to advance their legal career and obtain valuable experience as a government lawyer in the Negligence Litigation and Redress unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the provision of high-quality, timely legal advice regarding litigated and non-litigated negligence claims brought against the department.
  • Manage all litigated and non-litigated personal injury and property damage claims, bullying and historical sexual abuse claims.
  • Support the National Redress Scheme by providing legal advice and assistance.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Law or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of tort law and/or experience in negligence litigation claims including duty of care and risk management.
  • Understanding of current child safety reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
