Optical Dispenser Role

Job Summary:

This role involves working in a dynamic team environment as an Optical Dispenser. Key responsibilities include assisting customers with eyeglass frame and lens options, fitting and adjusting lenses to frames, dispensing eyeglasses and contacts, and processing sales transactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working on rotating roster including weekend shifts from 9am to 9pm.
  • Providing exceptional customer service by assisting members with choosing eyeglass frames and lens options appropriate to prescription.
  • Fitting and adjusting lenses to eyeglass frames, dispensing eyeglasses and contacts, and ensuring accurate measurements for pupilary distance to determine spectacle placement.
  • Addressing questions and concerns regarding prescriptions, merchandise, and services, referring to physician when necessary.
  • Processing sales transactions, organizing and filling member spectacle and contact lens prescriptions, and restocking department equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
  • Counting register at sign-on, maintaining the register's cleanliness, ordering change, cash increases, and loans when needed.
  • Receiving accurate payment for merchandise, making change, and processing credit and debit charges according to proper departmental procedures.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Following proper Optical Centre, general safety, and security procedures and standards.
Requirements:
  • Education/Training: High school certificate or higher.
  • Licenses/Certifications: None required.
  • Experience: Cashier or comparable experience preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Essential optical experience – Level 4 Optical dispensing is highly desirable.
