Lecturer in Computer Engineering/Embedded Systems Position

The University of Queensland is seeking a Lecturer with a strong background in teaching and supervision, particularly in the fields of computer engineering and embedded systems. The primary purpose of this position is to engage as a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, student supervision, and further development of the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as performing scholarship, administrative and other activities associated with the School.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate courses, prepare and deliver learning activities, and undertake assessment and marking for undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in areas of computer engineering and embedded systems.
- Lead the development of new programs and/or courses in the area of focus, by consulting with program advisors and stakeholders, ensuring courses are engaging, relevant and contemporary.
- Participate in educational practice and innovative curriculum design including online learning and alternative teaching methods.
- Maintain and improve the quality of courses as measured through university evaluation instruments to meet industry and educational standards.
- Provide high quality service to students, including academic advice adhering to University Policy relevant to teaching and learning practices.
- Conduct research related to teaching in a discipline relevant in the school.
- Work with colleagues and postgraduates in the development of joint research/SoTL projects
- Prepare research publications and progress reports and participate in regular meetings to discuss project objectives, methodology and outcomes.
- Contribute to the supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, and oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding of qualified employees in line with University policies.
- Manage employee performance by providing coaching, feedback, and training, while promptly addressing conflicts and grievances according to University procedures.
- Ensure accurate remuneration and benefits for employees, coordinating with Human Resources when changes occur.
- Foster relations with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community.
- Contribute to the processes that enable the academic team to manage the work, including participation in decision-making and serving on relevant committees.
- Perform a range of administrative functions and higher level internal duties and provide strong contribution to activities relevant to the School, faculty and the external community, including industry.
