General Manager Job Description

This leadership position is pivotal to our business transformation and customer service strategy.

The General Manager will have end-to-end responsibility for domestic operations across Australia, including management of metro depots and regional delivery networks. They will lead a geographically dispersed team of Branch and Regional Managers and oversee the efficient, safe, and cost-effective delivery of our Priority network operations.

  • Operational Leadership: Ensure service excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with our national strategy
  • Strategic Impact: Drive cultural change across dispersed teams and make tough decisions to optimize performance
  • Financial Management: Manage industrial relations and workforce planning in a unionised environment
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain OHS compliance, safety systems, and risk management frameworks
  • People & Performance: Develop and lead high-performing teams and drive operational transformation
About You:

You are a visionary leader with a strong commercial acumen and a passion for operational excellence. You should be comfortable making tough decisions, optimising performance, and driving cultural change across dispersed teams.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Logistics, or related discipline (preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years' senior leadership experience in a similar operations role
  • Deep knowledge of Australian logistics networks, depot operations, and linehaul/PUD performance metrics
  • Industrial relations and workforce planning experience in a unionised environment is highly regarded
  • Proven ability to lead national operations and depot networks in a logistics or transport environment
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing multimillion-dollar operational budgets
  • Excellent people leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Clear understanding of OHS compliance, safety systems, and risk management frameworks
  • Demonstrated success in operational transformation and change leadership
